Eating Out

Both friends and new acquaintances have been very supportive when I tell them I can only go to restaurants, cafes and bars that don´t use disposable plates, cups and cutlery. In the last 3 months only one person has got angry with me for complicating the plan!

Staff are for the most part accommodating too either not giving me a straw or napkin on request, or adding side orders to the main dish to save a ramekin, taking back a drink (unopened) because it was in a plastic bottle, serving tap water or refilling my bottle, and listening to my questions about in what exactly things are served.

Sometimes it can be frustrating, when for example you walk into a cafe because you see everyone drinking coffee out of real cups and then yours arrives in Styrofoam,  or a restaurant you have been to before  that used to give juices in glasses suddenly serves you with a plastic cup!

But for the most part it hasn´t been too difficult and has been excellent for my Spanish!
